Pastor Z.A Omotayo

What endures

Legacy

He stood for a life in which faith was not a Sunday arrangement but the thing everything else was organized around. From the moment he gave his life to Christ in 1977, every significant decision, what work to do, what community to belong to, what to build, had that orientation.

He distributed Christian literature because he believed the Word of God in people's homes changed things. He attended the School of Deliverance because he wanted to learn properly. He founded Gospel Light Fellowship Centre because the call did not allow for indefinite preparation.

He stood for showing up in people's lives, not just appearing in their church attendance records. The people who carried him most clearly after his death were not always the ones who sat in Sunday services. They were the ones he had counselled privately, walked through the faith, prayed for by name over years. His influence was personal before it was pastoral.

He also stood for the family. He married Rebecca in 1985 and they raised five children together. He attended every wedding and thanked God for every grandchild. He was still pastoring the week before his health forced him to stop. The members of his congregation would not have found a gap between the pastor and the father.

Values for those who come after

Start your day with God

Not as a habit that runs itself. As a decision you remake every morning before anything else has had a chance to pull at your attention.

Read the Bible as if it matters

He did not treat scripture as a reference book for emergencies. He read it daily, the way you eat, because he knew what happened when people stopped.

Work hard and work honestly

He built two businesses and a ministry and did not cut corners in any of them. You can do the same.

Tell someone about Christ

He expected every believer to hold this as a live obligation, not a distant aspiration. Ask yourself who you have told.

Show up for your family

The church needed a pastor and his children needed a father. He managed both. There is no version of faithfulness that excuses you from the people in your house.

Never let your difficulties become your children's burden

He learned this from experience. He had been a child whose education and emotional stability suffered because of problems at home, and he resolved that his own children would not have that experience. Whatever you are carrying, keep it from landing on them.

What should never be forgotten

He completed the course. That is not a phrase borrowed for a eulogy. It describes how he actually lived. He ran. He finished. He kept the faith.

From January 2025 he was carrying a serious illness alongside everything else: Stage IV prostate cancer, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes. He was still pastoring. He died on August 5th, 2025.

The faith did not weaken in those months. It settled. The way some things get quieter as they get stronger.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
